The first fall musical was performed in November 2001 after some discussion among returning students and the drama director. One of the main reasons for setting up an additional musical production was to give students some extra time on stage, but as chance would have it, the fall musical gave the school an opportunity to help to develop new, and sometimes, as of yet, unused, talent. In addition, the fall musical also gives the school a chance to perform some of the shows that require a smaller cast.
Because the number of participants is so small, students become totally involved in the production of the show. They will help with sets, costumes and choreography. Thus they are similar to the One Act Plays in that students have a great degree of say as to how things happen. Students can also gain an appreciation for what must be done to produce a show of any size. Sets, props and costumes are kept simple, but the cast needs to help create them.
